NADFAS Heritage Volunteers give their time freely to many museums, National Trust properties, historic houses, Libraries and garden research projects. They help to preserve our heritage both in Britain and parts of Europe. Appropriate training is given to all Heritage Volunteers by professional conservators, curators and advisors.

Every project must be approved by NADFAS before the volunteers start work and work undertaken is covered by a Code of Conduct and a Volunteering Charter.

Examples of work that has been carried out include :
Cataloguing, listing and transcribing archives, photographs and artefacts
Basic preventive conservation of textiles
Cleaning and cataloguing arms, armour, medals and military silver
Creation of replica costumes and textiles
Historical research and recording of buildings and gardens
Stewarding in museums, historic houses, galleries, churches and gardens

A list of the Heritage Volunteer Projects being carried out by our societies in the Midlands is available by clicking on the link below. It is always inspiring to see what other societies are doing, and perhaps give ideas of what could be done in your area. On the various individual society websites there are some interesting photos. Do take a look.
